  1. I've successfully created an AVCHD file structure and burned an HD DVD using multiAVCHD v4.1. The problem is that there is a half second or more delay between chapters. This comes from having used an mp4 file for each chapter. Will I have to combine the mp4 or m2ts files to get rid of the pause? I have tried merging the play lists but this doesn't seem to help.

There must be a better way to accomplish chapters without pauses but still be able to keep the chapters in separate files. I'm going to try tsMuxeR and merge the mp4's, but then I believe I will manually have to input the chapters... Is there a way to preserve the chapter/timing info?

    Thanks.

First, why the heck are you still making an HD DVD? Those became defunct in 2008.

Second, I don't know exactly how that app handles separate files, but I would expect that YES, using separate files as sources for chapters would lead to such behavior and that you would have to concatenate the media PRIOR to authoring for those chapters to be seamless. However, there's a good chance that they won't be seamless even then, because they could very well have differing GOP structures, and while a player might still be able to traverse a multi-gop-structured file, it will have to "pause" to re-adjust itself.
That's why these things are usually thought out well in advance of even the encoding stage, so that they can be all encoded (the first time) as one, ensuring a seamless playback.
Why would you think that is otherwise possible?

  3. That's what I love about the internet - I can parade my ignorance in front of the masses...

I have been rendering via Photoshop CS6 to H.264. I chose HDV/HDTV 720p thinking this was the best 720p format.

I chose to break up one video into scenes so that I could eventually put them on the web and so that I can burn a 720p AVCHD DVD-R. I thought that by breaking them into scenes, I would kill two birds with one stone as the chapters would be already defined. I didn't realize that by breaking them up I would be creating the pause problem.

I'm re-rendering from the original MOV files using Photoshop (applying filters) into a single mp4 and will recreate the AVCHD DVD-R with manually created chapters.

As best as I can tell, H.264 is not HD DVD and I was confused by Adobe's labels into thinking it was an HD DVD format. Thanks for your clarification.
