  1. I use the GOM player, the windows media and the cyberlink powerdvd. With all these programs when i play an avi, an mkv or a dvd disc the player pauses after a couple of minutes of viewing. It stops for another couple of minutes. The screen freezes, the sound stops. Then it keeps playing it. Then it pauses again. This happens with any software. I already formatted the PC and reinstall the OS and it stills has the same problem.
Im using Vista Business 32 bit. I have a Geforce 8800Gts.
I didnŽt mix different codec packages.
The last one i used is the mega lite codec pack.

I would try VLC, and if any improvement, then I would suspect a codec problem as VLC uses it's own codecs. If none, then maybe a problem with your video card drivers. I would also check your CPU usage under Task Manager. Playback even of HD MKV should be around 20% - 30% with a decent video card.

What's your computer specs? CPU and RAM?

  5. OK, iŽll try with VLC.
    I have a Core 2 Duo E6750 2,66ghz
    4gb RAM Kingston Hyperx
I already updated the graphic card drivers. both, from the Asus and the Nvidia site just to be sure.
The CPU usage playing an mkv file doesnt pass 30% at any moment. Usually goes under 20%.

  9. OK, I accidentally fixed the problem. I had this problem running this game. The game didnt run so i check out the internet for the solution. I had to disable the "Tablet PC optional components" in the windows features.
Start --> Control Panel --> Programs --> Programs and Features --> Turn Windows Features off/on.
This let me played the game and solve the problem of the freezing when playing videos.
    Dont know how....
    Thanks, anyway.
