  1. I'm using Sony DVD Architect 5.0 (Build 119) to make some menus for my home movies that I've put on DVD. I have several different subpages, with a few titles on each page. When watching a title, when it gets to the end it pauses for 2 or 3 seconds on the last frame before returning to the menu. Similarly, I've put a "Play All" playlist on each of my subpages, and when using that button there is about a 3 second pause on the last frame of each title before it moves on to the next title.

Is there a way to not have these pauses? I can live with the pause at the end of the title when it's returning to the menu, but I would really like to not have the pause between titles when the Play All button is used.

I've also tried putting just one long video on each subpage and setting In and Out points for each title, which I guess makes them chapters instead of separate titles. Obviously this fixes the issue with the Play All button, as it's just one video file so there are no pauses. But doing it this way creates another annoyance...when selecting just one item (chapter) to view, when it gets to the end (before it returns to the menu) it starts to play the next chapter, and pauses on maybe the 5th frame before it returns to the menu! I have definitely set the In and Out points correctly, so I don't understand why it pauses on a frame of the next chapter before it returns to the menu.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! These annoyances are holding me up from getting my home movies (vhs) authored and burned onto dvd. Thanks!!

You can't do anything about pauses between separate titles.

If you can't get frame accurate on the Chapters, you DIDN'T set them right. Probably because they're not on I-frames. One word: PLAYLISTS.

(And yes, Baldrick is right. It is NOT POSSIBLE in the DVD-Video spec to have NO LAG between different titles. They're "exiting a state", "entering a different state", "exiting that state" and "entering a new state" with each changeover. Too much for the DVD virtual machine to be seamless)
