  1. All the filters I have for Virualdub (v1.9.11) work fine except for the MSU Cartoonizer v3.0. In the Cartoonizer preview window (and resulting virtualdub output window), about 1/2 the frames look like this:

When I save the file (Xvid MPEG-4 format), those frames are still scrambled. It appears to continually flash between frames that were processed correctly and frames like the one above.

I've tried with numerous avi files and it's the same with all of them. I also tried MSU Cartoonizer v2.0 with the sama results. Encoding and decoding avi files works as expected in all my video editors and players, so I don't think it's a codec problem.

    I'm running Windows 7 on a 32-bit system.

Anyone have an idea of what may be causing this?

  2. As far as I can tell, that filter simply doesn't work with recent builds of VirtualDub. Use VirtualDubMod instead.

  3. Thank you, thank you. Virtualdubmod did the trick.

  4. My output screen looked almost the same, but I was using an AVI file. The top showed a totally black screen with only the bottom half showing the cartoonized part. I finally found the Options button to click on (in the Cartoonizer 3.0) and checked the option to "force single frame buffer" needed, it said, for compatibility with some older files or filters... (I can't remember which it said.) I'm using the same virtualdub verson 1.9.11 (32bit one) on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine. Sooooo, I guess it works with virtualdub, too.

  5. I verified that works. At the main Filters dialog in VirtualDub highlight the MSU Cartoonizer filter. Then press the Options button in the lower right of the dialog. Enable the "Force single frame buffer" option.
