I recently purchased a older copy of Vegas, the ver. 11 Platinum one, and I'm trying to make subclips in the trimmer.

Mostly, the process is simple, but I've run into a very irritating problem. Once I've selected my in/out points and either click the 'make subclip' button or right-click and select 'make subclip' that way, the subclip it gives me is of correct video length, but the audio is all wrong. Sometimes, the subclip contains the entire audio of original footage, or repeats the audio of the subclip until the length of the original clip is met.

Sometimes, I've gotten it to work exactly as it should, but how it deals with the audio is inconsistent and irritating. Making simple subclips should not be this confusing.

In the original footage, I did set markers across it before attempting subclips, so if that has something to do with it, please tell me.

Don't use the trimmer. Make your splits, then subclips, on the timeline. Don't use markers, regions, selections, nothing virtual. Make the splits, then there's no confusion.

If there's an audio issue, you might have to ungroup it.

If you dig into the help section, you may find out the logic of the trimmer, and fine details, but it's easier to just ignore it and use the timeline.

A few years back, there was discussion of eliminating the Trimmer altogether, but I guess they didn't have the nerve to do it, but it IS a "clutter" item, and clashes with the Vegas concept of "magic timeline". So it may eventually disappear one day. Better off not getting used to it.

  4. I had that same problem with version Movie Studio 12. A later build fixed it. Check that you have the latest build for version 11. Or just follow budwzr's advice.
