A puzzle. This works on my PAL & NTSC player but not on an NTSC only machine. I noticed a difference between pps and fps as above. Could that mess things up for some players?

Well, it's hard to tell all of the data, since your little circles are covering up some of the pertinent fields.

    Player Models?...

My guess is that the disc in question is a normal Film-based NTSC disc (using 23.976 stored frames/second with 3:2 pulldown flag set so the standard playback rate should be 29.97 fps). This is quite standard. Without anything further clarifying the situation, it would be hard to tell WHY your NTSC player should be having problems.

Who knows, could be the media (sketchy discs) or that player could be getting close to dying, or other problems in the authoring of the disc that the other players smooth over but that one didn't...

  3. It's entirely normal for NTSC. The majority of NTSC DVDs are encoded at 23.976 progressive pictures per second with 3:2 pulldown flags that tell the player how to create 59.94 fields per second (nominally 29.97 frames per second) interlaced video from those pictures.

My guess is your NTSC machine puts out a pure NTSC signal that your PAL TV can't display. The TV probably only displays PAL and PAL60 (NTSC timing, PAL chroma channels).
