I have an mp4 video I took on my cell phone earlier this week, but when I transferred it to my computer I can't get anything to play it. VLC, winamp, media player, and media player classic won't play it. I've tried everything on this thread: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/344960-MP4-file-repair-needed but still no luck. Help!

Is this what you mean?
General
Complete name : C:\Users\AJ\Desktop\Dispatch\VID_20130129_224557.m p4
Format : MPEG-4
Format profile : Base Media
Codec ID : isom
File size : 804 MiB -
when I select text that is all it is giving me. Maybe i'm doing something wrong. I'm clicking "select media file to examine", then I select text from the drop down "View" menu. Is there something else I should be doing?

Does the video play OK on the phone? If so it doesn't need repair. Have you had similar problems with other videos taken on the same phone?
What kind of cell phone? What kind of settings does it have? Any other codec choices? Because that does sound like some weird one. If mediainfo can't understand it I don't have any answers there.
Remember, mp4 (or avi) is just a container. It can have any of a number of codecs. The file extension doesn't matter as much as it looks.
My first impulse would be to try to open the file in avidemux to try and convert it. It's very, very good at id'ing oddball codecs. Also handbrake. But id mediainfo doesn't know what it is I wouldn't be all that optimistic either. -
I cut and pasted a bunch of videos and pictures from the cell. I guess I've learned from my mistake, because I won't do that again. I can try putting the video back on the phone and see if that does anything. However, another video from the phone that I took off plays just fine with all the programs I've tried for the one that doesn't work. I have no option to specify the codec on this phone, which is rooted samsung galaxy s2 I9100.
I'll cross my fingers and give these two programs a try. -
If it's an important video you can try video repair tool. Try the trial first. Load a working mp4 and the broken mp4 and see if it can repair it.
Or use www.mp4repair.org.
But they aren't free. -
No luck with avidemux or handbrake either. I had tried video repair tool before, but didnt set another video from the phone as the reference. I did it this time, and I was able to get something. But the video is superslowed down, while the audio is normal. Any suggestions? I'm not paying $40 unless I can get the video looking right.

I thought that option was just to mux the video and/or audio stream to another file.
The splitter, in the cases I have used it, just integrates with my media player. Did you try to play the file again with Media Player Hone Cinema ?
But, as you now say, your other videos have played fine. As you have not changed anything then the file does appear damaged.
