  1. Hi,

    This is a long shot.

Have a USB 3.0 laptop but will it synch with the Shuttle?

    It's a Dell L502X, intel HM67 chipset.

    http://www.dell.com/us/p/xps-l502x/pd

It ought to work, being quite a bit later on the market than the Shuttle, but I can find absolutely no confirmation if it will or not. I am researching BM due to the demise of Firewire.

    Thanks,

    Ric

    Hi

I don't have a laptop or a shuttle but I did find this YouTube video that supposedly shows you how to get your laptop and the shuttle to happily coexist. Here is the link:

    Thanks Brainiac,

Cripes, that is beyond me at the moment - what happened to plug & play? [lol] - but seriously, the dude should have broken down the tutorial into two: a) reformating Windows and b) loading the Shuttle imho, since the reload part just banishes all the Dell bits'n'pieces.

But many thanks, you are the only person who has found this answer to my question so far and that includes the Dell forum

Will give this tutorial some serious thought. If Blackmagic had a hot support backup I would probably jump in directly, but I know that they do not, so if I screw up on the drivers etc, I am properly screwed, and this is a newish laptop & running a-ok.

This stated ~ Thanks some more!

    Thanks aedipuss,

    Only one Dell listed?

I well know the driver game with Dells, even simple devices can take days and hours to install single drivers for, and I have a Dell in the back room with a folder full of carefully saved drivers which the Windows Wizard is equally carefully ignoring, so I think I may wait for something HDMI a bit more straightforward to show up some day. OMG why did they pull the plugs on Firewire, life used to be so uncomplicated!

    Never mind.

    Bests,

    Ric

hehe - that bmi shuttle is the worst supported device i've ever run across. almost nothing works well with it. last year there was only 1 msi laptop at all that could use it.

  7. This is what annoys me though - they pull Firewire and the nearest replacement is still basically in its beta stage. I like cam-saving to card but I'd like the AVI option not just mpeg4 although H.264 is a marvelous codec.
