DVD2AVI Produces Terrible Quality BEFORE ENCODING!

Ok first.. i use smart ripper and set it to everything that sefy has in his newbie dvd rip guide. So then i go into DVD2AVI and i use his options again.. and when I play back the video produced by DVD2AVI the quality is terrible all blocky and edgy... this is before i encode it using TMPG so can someone please tell me the setting in DVD2AVI so i can make a high quality SVCD instead of encoding a bad quality from the start. THANKS

dvd2avi doesn't affect the video (unless u want it to)...by default it just framserves into tmpgenc....only other thing it does is extract the audio for u

The only reason I can think of that you have bad video with DVD2AVI is if you created an AVI file and not a D2V file, which would explain how you managed to "play it" before you encoded it!

D2V is a frameserving file, it gives the encoder access to the VOB files, and this file is NOT playable by itself.

Thanks Sevy i did the dv2 file and the quality was a little better i still dont know the right settings no matter where i go for tmpgenc help. Im also having synch problems... i just do the audio by clicking track 1 in dvd2avi to get my seperate audio file. Thanks for any suggestions

What is the WAV file name you are getting ? usually if there is a pre-set gap then the file name will show you the amount of seconds required for synching
