  1. Hi All,

I need help regarding converting my Kodak *.Mov files to Avi/Mpeg4 and also require a good free video editing software. Basically, I would like to edit my clips and add few sound/picture effects to my original video.

    Can you please help me?

    Thanks.

    Hi Baldrick,

I downloaded the mp4camtoavi and it works great. It seems it kept the original video quality in tact and also the conversion speed was good.

But, I'm not able to edit the movies that easily in the windows movie maker. Meaning, for example I have a 1 mt clip and it seems there is no easy way to clip from 47th to 52nd seconds and so on.

Could you please suggest any free video editing software which is good in editing the clip in frames and subsequently adding new frames and so on. I have Windows XP OS (SP3).

    Many Thanks.

Nope, because you wont find any good, simple and FREE nonlinear editor.

Thanks Baldrick for your quick replies. Is there any good video editing software, which is reasonably priced you would like to suggest?

Basically, I'm making a short documentary type film and don't have much budget to buy expensive software. I'm using Kodak digital camera for making the video.

    Many Thanks.

Corels VideoStudio Pro is easy to use but still pretty advanced and not that expensive. Try the trial first and see how it works with either the mov directly or the avi.

Thank you Bladrick. I have started downloading it from Corel, seems to be a VERY big download (1.3 GB). Meanwhile, I searched the forum for similar requirement and found VirtualDub software which is a freeware. It seems to be a good software too. Let me play around with these software for sometime to see which one works for me.

Thanks for your time in helping me out.

You can do basic cutting and lots of filtering with virtualdub but you can't add any effects/transitions between cuts.
