  1. So, today I decided to do a backup colpy of my system, in case my machine fries and I donīt wanna go through the hassle of installing every drive and program again.

Havenīt done these in a while and when I try, I get an error message.
Turns out my backup drive (200 gb space available) is too small for the volume in C:/.
And what is my occupied volume in c:/, you ask?

    261 GB.

    Yup.
    Youveīread it right.
There is NO way my system occupies 261GB, only things I have there are Photoshop, a couple codecs, players, Matroska...
My Steam games are installed in another (1TB) drive.
Even the winsxs folder is "only" filled with 12gb worth of lard.

So, where is all this fat hiding and how can I fry it?

  2. On a more thorough analysis, I found this:

The C:/Users/mynameiswhatever/AppData folder is eating up 120 GB.
How can I trim it down?

  3. By browsing the AppData folder and seen what's in there that you don't need.

Also, use the Disk Cleanup tool to see what if finds that can be deleted. Delete old System Restore points.

  5. Thanks for the repplies, guys.
System restore points was the first thing I looked into when my first disk clean sweep failed.

I think I found the perpretator:

The C:/Users/mynameiswhatever/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Common/Media cache files folder is chugging 100+ GBs.

DO I have your clearance to kill these tribbles with extreme prejudice?

  6. Yes, Adobe is a pig. That folder is probably full of video files you viewed with a web browser.

  8. Yeah, I had files there from projects I had already wrapped ages ago.

    Well... not anymore.
