  1. Alright so I'm new to blu-ray ripping and i tried a couple programs. So far, none of them did what i want or at least I'm not sure what settings i need to enable and whatnot.

Basically, what i want to do is make a backup of an anime blu-ray disc. How i want to do it is rip each episode to have both the English and Japanese language with the subtitle option in one file. I also want those episodes either in 1080p or 720p without it taking a ridiculous amount of space either.

I would really appreciate some help on that, thanks in advance!

  3. I'm not sure what you mean by that...but if you're wondering what programs i tried, i remember trying out MakeMKV with Handbrake afterwards. I don't remember what settings i had enabled. I'm just wondering what program is best for what i want to do and a guide would be nice too.

  4. Use DVDFab to rip the Bluray into mkv format. The program will allow you to rip both audio tracks and the subtitle track along with the video itself. Then you can use Handbrake to shrink the mkv to a more manageable size. Probably somewhere between 1.2 and 1.8 gigs if you shrink it to 720p dimensions.

  5. Hmm okay, well i was actually trying out DVDFab just now, it works really great. The only problem is that i tried the mkv.remux option and i can select both languages, but after i rip it, when i play the file theres no audio.

So then, i tried settings other than mkv.remux and i can only select one language (a little dot that fills blue when selected) and then the quality and audio is good.

But i really am looking for a way to have both languages + subtitles in them. That would be just perfect. Not sure what i'm supposed to do to have both languages with the audio in.

  6. What program do you use to view the movie after you rip it using DVDFab?

  7. For videos i usually use Windows Media Classic or Windows Media Player with K-lite Codec Pack.

Just for info that's the error that pops up when using WM Classic if that can help:

  8. Well that weird, i just thought i'd try with Cyberlink PowerDVD and it works. I can choose the audio + subtitles perfectly fine. Wondering why the heck doesn't it work in WM Classic and WMP then?

EDIT: Just tried VLC Player and it works perfectly as well. Kind of strange, never had much trouble with WMC and WMP before that...
