  1. I've installed MMC7.1 for my AIW128Pro32MB AGP but I can't get my TV option to work. I keep getting the error message:
"Unable to start TV: The TV player failed to initialize the video. Ensure the correct video drivers have been installed and close any applications which may be playing video before attempting to restart TV". I've checked the ATI site and their suggestions have been useless. I have no other capture programs running, I have DirectX 8 and the vid cap update installed and I don't have Win2K Terminal services running. I am running on an AMD. I've read about an AMD AGP largefile patch, should I install that? Anyone else ecounter this problem?
    Thanks

  2. I'm no true authority, but did you install the Direct x8 upgrade. The MMC 7.1 can't run without it.

  3. There is also a "Digital Video Update for DirectX 8.0"

  4. koko: my brother had the exact same problem.

it was a corrupt install of the "Guide" -- download all the latest software from ATI (dont use the stuff on the CD) and if I remember correctly you can select to re-intall the "Guide" and it will "repair" a previous install.

If that doesnt help let me know and I'll ask him to tell me _exactly_ what he did to get his working

  5. i just had this problem yesterday, but in winME. so i just did a system restore and reinstalled, and no problems. the other thing i found was that incorrectly installed wrong versions of the directx tuner drivers, (kstvtune.ax, and so on, bunch of stuff named ks*.ax). so anyhow, it was putting the win2k versions (5.0.xxx) into winME, which needs the 9x versions (4.x.xxxx). after i manually changed these back, and reinstalled directx/8.0a update and repaired the ATI software i was ok.

and i was using the downloaded stuff, i have 6.3 on my cd. also, make sure you install the DVD 4.1 update, it's a capture update too.

Stinky, I'm not sure what "Guide" you're refering to. Could you or your brother give further help. BTW, I can't wait to try out your registry tool.

pynx and Dward, thanks for the reminders, but I have already installed the digital video update/upgrade.

patricm: I've downloaded the latest win2k drivers and dvd 4.1 from the ati site and installed them. Maybe I need to start from scratch and reinstall everything.

Thanks for all the help provided.
