WindowsMediaPlayer 9 install on a win2K boot partition on my dual boot PC is unable to play my mpg files. This partition with Win2K does not have internet access setup. When installing WMP does it not put on everything it needs to play mpg. This is so odd, cant be simpler, one gets a pc, installs win2K, sound and video all running, then WMP and it wont play mpg files. I think i saw something about codec flashing whilst I tried it on a playlist, but individually it just says error.
What do I need to add to the win2K for WMP to work ?..and not mess up the only stable OS I have left after SP2 cocked up my XP SP1 side of the PC.

Furthermore, having run my WMP v 8 on the XP side of my dual boot, and created a playlist, and exported it. the WMP9 on the 2K cant go import playlist. v8 has export playlist function and import, but V9 cant,...is Bill Gates and co high on something illegal when making these progs to run with his own OS's ?
How does one import a playlist saved as a file in WMP9 ?
Also odd, the Msoft website has no mention of version8, there is 7 and 9 and 10 and 11 but no 8 !

    Exit the twilight Zone.

mpeg2 or mpeg1 video in the .mpg files? You need a mpeg2 decoder for mpeg2 files.

And do you have to use wmp? THere are other great free players like media player classic, vlc, kmplayer, etc.

    Hi,
I am creating lots of short mpeg files with Videoredo, save as default type mpeg program stream it says, I cant see if its making mpeg1 or mpeg2 oddly enough.
WMP was suggested as I wish to view all these in one go as a continual movie and WMp with playlist function was suggested. worked under winXP just now for the first few then screen went black, as if movies shot in the dark. frame was there and playbuttons and cursor moving, just not my day here

I shall use whatever is best that works on win2K clean instal without internet access. Which would be best then media player classic or ??...considering my playing lots of small mpgs ?
    Cheers
