Use a program called Virtualdub (see the convert section or capture section to find it - its free). Convert the Divx to another decent type of AVI with a good codec (download Huffyuv codec for lossless conversion). Then TMPGenc will eat it up.

In TMPGenc option...environmental setting...vfapi plug-in...
Increase the priority if the Direct Show Multimedia File Reader until it is not a negative value (it's probably at -1 right now). Right click on it and choose "higher priority" until it is up to 0 (in the right column), then try and open your divx avi.As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war." -
thanks for the TMPGenc tip.....however all I got now was just sound,no picture??
I`m using divx5 with XP. -
I'm betting that TMPGenc's problem is with the sound, not the video...
Jeez, I give this advice often...
Anyway, open the .avi in VirtualDub, and save its audio as a .wav. Then, when you use TMPGenc, select the .avi as the video source and the .wav as the audio source.
