    Yes, I am a newbie.

I have a DVD and I would like to add subtitles to it.

I have been following this guide:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/277950-How-to-add-new-subtitles-to-an-existing-DVD

I have watched the DVD and recorded the time index for each of the subtitles.
I have created an .xls spreadsheet with the first column being the Show time index, the second column being the Hide time index, and the third column being the subtitle text. What is my next step in getting this into Subtitle Workshop?

I have read the following thread, but I did not understand how to do it:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/316921-Timing-Subtitles-from-xls-to-srt?highlight=xls

Can anyone please walk me through this?

    Thanks

    OK, I figured it out.

To output a subtitle file in .srt format from a .xls file, you should have the following format in the .xls file:
    **************************
    Show time in column A
    Hide time in column B
    Subtitle text in column C
    **************************

    - copy the .xls worksheet and Paste Special (Formatted Text) into a Word document
    - select the entire table
    - choose Table->Convert->Table to Text...
    - separate cells with paragraph marks
    - save the document as a Text file (.txt )
    - rename the .txt file to .srt

    My thanks to user midders.
