Is there any software that allows me to pick what tv show I want to watch on my PC and resume where I left off?
Kind of like how a PVR will list all your record series and allow me to resume on the spot I was last?
So if I was 10 minutes into season 1 ep2 of Simpsons, went to watch Seinfeld, then went back to watch the Simpsons it would load up s1 ep2 at exactly 10 minute mark I left off? Id love to be able to jump between TV shows and always get back to the exact same season, episode and time I last left off.
So even if I had 100 TV series I could easily always pick any one of them and always start where I last left off.

Thats $200 software, insanely expensive considering there isnt even a trial. It also appears to be more of a PVR software as opposed to the single PVR feature I want.
I am looking for a solution that does not requore me setting any bookmarks. I want it done automaticly. Even if the bookmark remembers the entire playlist and its location it would turn into a nightmare always having to update the bookmarks, delete the old ones, etc.
After I posted this I took another look at MPC web interface. Sounds very interesting. I could almost code this entire program in PHP/html using a DB. In theory that program would keep working on any version on MPC HC. Only downside is thats it would require me to use a browser (or my phone) to switch between shows. -
Yes, Windows Media Center includes PVR functionality, but you don't need to use it. Windows Media Center is what I use, because I like its PVR functionality, and I can confirm Windows 7's Media Center does automatically remember the spot where you stop playback in a particular video file, even if it did not record the file. However, you need to remember which file that was.
If upgrading to Windows 7 is something that you plan to do in the future, Windows Media Center is included at no additional cost with Windows 7 Home Premium and above. A Windows 7 Home Premium OEM or Upgrade license costs about $100 US, although I have seen them on sale for less at times.
There are other Media Center programs, free or paid, and some are better than Windows Media Center in one way or another. XBMC and MediaPortal require setting bookmarks. I don't know if J. River Media Center or Plex Media Center do. -

another great program is media portal (free open source ) but it is not for newbies, GB PVR (open source)
consider also mythTV free open source buggy -
Windows Media Center will be sold separately for Windows 8, but pricing has not been announced.

Build your own pvr might have some stuff:
pyopvr.com
I just pause a show, put computer in sleep mode & there it is right in the same place when I use the computer again. -
