Here are the properties of a movie transfered from a Viewsat FTA PVR 7000 Receiver to my PC (properties given by VideoReDo Plus):

    File Name: C:\test mpeg PVR - PC\2ND REGARD.MPEG
    File Size: 888968079 ( 0.83 GB )
    Program Duration: 00:34:59.10
    File Type: PS - MPEG2
    Encoding: MPEG 2
    Video stream Id: xE0
    Encoding Dimensions: 544 x 480
    Display Size: 544 x 480
    Aspect Ratio: 4/3
    Frame Rate: 29.97 FPS
    Bit Rate: 15.000 Mbps
    VBV_Buffer: 224 KB
    Profile: Main/Main
    Progressive: Prog or Int
    Chroma: 4:2:0
    Audio Format: Layer 2
    Audio Stream Id: xC0
    Audio Bit Rate: 192 Kbps
    Audio Sampling Rate: 48000 Hz

Is there a way to play this kind of movie on a computer ? I have tried without success: Windows Media Player v10, Media Player Classic 6.4.9, Nero Showtime 3, Real Player v 10, QT, BS Player 2, DivX Player 6.6, VLC 0.8.6 (on both Mac & PC) ?

I've also installed K-Lite Codec Pack without success.

So far, VideoReDo Plus is the only software with which I can open & play properly this kind of movie file.

Is there also a way to convert such a mpeg file into AVI file ?

    With all my thanks

What information does Gspot provide on the file?

VideoReDo was designed for opening, editing, and converting these types of files. You could simply use it save the file in a proper format.

Here it is. Media Player Classic freezes after a few seconds & no sound.

Doesn't look like the file uses a normal audio format...at least there isn't one listed. Most likely that is what is causing your players to choke.

FWIW, files taken directly from DVR's/Tivo's etc usually require conversion before they are capable of playback on any device.
