Generally speaking, Samsung BD players get lukewarm to poor reviews by users, and are seldom the pick-of-the-pack from professional reviewers. Samsung products that perform well have a poor reliability record. Personally, I had so much trouble with several highly-touted Samsung products, I'll never buy Samsung again -- regardless of how many toys and buttons come with it.

    Your choice.

Not what you are asking about but it's worth mentioning anyway...
If you think that there is any chance at all that in the future you will want your BluRay player to be region free, even if just for DVD playback, do NOT buy Samsung or Sony. Almost none of their models can ever be made region free. You have been warned.

There are several reasonably priced DVD/BluRay players. Unfortunately almost everything made by manufacturers these days is tin-and-plastic outsourced junk, unless you settle for high end units from Denon, Pioneer, or Oppo -- and even those are no 100% guarantee. The high-end players usually have fewer gadgets; they are designed for image and audio quality first. Still, among budget players it seems Panasonic BluRays offer the most favorably reviewed image/audio performance in both HD and SD, in affordable units. In any case, I wouldn't go for the lowest-tier products from any name brand.

  6. This BD player is not compatible with audio files like WMA10 or M4A. I have tested it.
It is the same way with *.TS video files: not compatible.

    But one important thing :
Go to its menu, and you will see that this player is animated by a Linux OS containing plugins like ffmpeg, etc!...

So, if someone knows how to hack its firmware (add plugins to Linux, etc), this lil' BD player would rock in FullHD!! It would be more than a simple BD player, it would be a true media box player!
