  1. Hi,

I just got a new full HD tv and so decided to download an HD movie.I downloaded the torrent. It says BluRay.x264.x264.mp4.
On the website it said .mp4 so I thought should work on my dvd.My dvd player is Sony DVP 750.It says HD and has also supplied me an HDMI cable. So should it not play an HD file?

It didn't play avis with DIV5 codec so I used AVICC to change it to xvid.

But what do I do in this case?If it does support mp4, then why doesn't it play this file?In vlc codec info it says avc1.So is it a codec problem?

    Any programme like AVICC available?

Do I need a bluray player to play HD?If yes, then why does this dvd player say HD and gives me HDMI cable?

Help please..If possible please suggest something that can make this file compatible..I came across AVI CC through this website only.

    Thanks.

Nope. Most DVD Players does not support HD video files. It can probably only upscale to HD with the HDMI.

    Get a blu-ray player and buy/rent blu-rays instead.

  3. Thanks!I think I got tricked by their use of generalized terms. He He!

But before I sell this one and get a blu-ray, I would like to try if there is any way to change this mp4 h264 avc format to avi or even the mp4 format that my dvd recognizes..??I would like try before selling it away..

'Coz when I tried directly playing the files, it said format not supported. But then when I converted it to avi format using avidemux (if I am correct), it said Data Error, the same error it gave me when playing avi DIV5 files.I then had run AVICC and changed it to xvid.Which played fine.

Avidemux gives me an avi with h264 which gives me data error on dvd.Tried AVICC but same error.

    Help please?
