  1. can anyone tell me why my dvds have such low volume when i rip them?

I use the dvd2avi>tmpg route but volumes are so low i have to turn the volume right up to listen to the vcds i create.

    Try the following in DVD2AVI:

Under Audio select 48->44.1KHz check "ultra high"
Make sure "Nomalization" is checked and move the slider to a much higher number.

Rerun this to get another wav file. Split (Demux) your old VCD mpeg. Mux the new wav and old video feed back together and it should work.
