Hi, was wondering if anyone could help. My problem is when I download videos from YouTube or anywhere else I get 2 files ones a meta file and the other won't play. This has been going on for a month now I've tried reinstalling realplayer a couple of times and have the same problem. It used to work fine until a month ago I don't know what's happened. I don't know wether this could make any difference a month ago I downloaded an application called gimp 2.8 photo suite could any of the files from gimp be clashing with realplayer files it just seems a bit of a coincidence that when I downloaded gimp, realplayer doesn't work properly.

Any help would be really appreciated as I am keen to get this sorted.

    Cheers...

The best advice you will get is to abandon RealPlayer and use something else, like VLC or MPC-HC. I haven't installed RealPlayer on ANY computer I've used in some years now. RealPlayer is pretty fussy and yes, it is possible that something in Gimp is causing you problems, although I would certainly blame RealPlayer for that.

It's not always possible to easily download some YouTube videos. I've used StreamTransport to get a lot of them but even it doesn't always work. If you want to learn a lot about RTMP streams you can use various free programs, but if I find something that StreamTransport can't handle, I just use Replay Video Capture to record it.

I agree with jman ... realplayer ain't so hot ... except I don't like mpc-hc. SMplayer is my favorite, then vlc. Either will play about anything without needing codec packs. VLC is known as the one that plays anything but smplayer is better there. it has the best video filters too.

  7. the best video filters are avisynth filters, which you can only use for playback with ffdshow.
