Ok heres the thing.I am having major problems with this player.Yeah i know that i only paid 88 bucks for it,but i still think that i shouldnt have as much problem as i am havin with it.The VCDS that i burn from AVIs such as Resident Evil and so on,stutter, audio jumps off sync, its a real mess.I have done everything from encoding different frame rates to changing the media. When i use my discs that are burned from Mpeg Music Videos,I dont have this problem.I would go ahead and download MPEG format, but when you dont have anything faster than dialup, that takes too much time.Like it doesnt take too much trying to download AVI. Anyways,ok when I am watching dvds, for example,Tomb Raider, when she swings on the rope at the beginning when she fights SIMON,it skips heavily.I know that it is the DVD player, because I put it in the PS2 and i dont have these problems. Not only that but the picture quality is ok,but in the dark areas,i have those little squares, blocks whatever you want to call them.I know that this is a nice player for some of you,but some of us are having major difficulties with it,and are in extreme need for help.i am so afraid to go back and buy another APEX because of the troubles that i have had with this one and the other two that i have already went through, that i am seriously considering writing this company and telling them.Yes I know that they do sell good products, but i mean really do we have to settle for this????HELP ME PLEASE AND Sorry for the rambling,I guess with all the trouble that i have had with this thing,i needed to let it out

well.. i had an apex500wm and it blew... i bought another $88 dollar player (mustek classic dvd-102) and it owns.. plays everything great .. anyways.. a lot of people have had success with apex 500w's my sister has one and loves it.
try exchanging it (like 2 or 3 times) until you get one that plays good.. i suggest you download one of the vcd samples from the tools area (link on the left ) so you can be sure its definately the player and not the vcd you made
bring yuor sample vcd to the store and ask to play it on the demo 500w (if there is one) so you can see what to expect -
If your using TMPEG there is your problem RIGHT THERE
Buy it or try another encoder
I Ripped my hair out and tried EVERYTHING for it and all the VCDs skipped and stuttered, thought it was my Apex, friends brand new apex did the same crap. Encoded it as SVCD ZERO PROBLEMS
ZERRRROOOOO.
Tmpeg has some SERIOUS problems with Encoding VCDs now, and I had the MOST problems when it was encoding Divx Encoded movies. I think it only works with the old Angel Potion codec installed.
Anyways Get a diff Program if your using TMPEG
or get TMPEG and get SVCD encoding.
It's not your player most likely. -
i used TMPEG to convert a few divx and they play fine on my Apex 500w. My only problem is with being out of sync. Every movie i have burned goes out of sync.

I also had the same problem with what you guys have said. vcd's had problems and svd's worked great. Then one day I was messing around with vcd's again and got them to work perfect. I made sure i encoded in ntsc 29.97 even if my source was in film 23.76. And I made sure the audio was set at 224 like a svcd. Also I burn at that slowest speed for my burner which 4x. Now all my vcd's play perfect.

Also thanks for the replies,I really appreciate the help, and something else, the more trouble that I have the more that I want to take it back to Walmart and let them deal with it.But I will try something else,I dont know what, but i will try it.Oh I have almost every MPEG encoder out there and I still cant get any of them to work right.Or to make my VCDs come out right.Does anyone have a copy of resident evil that they would love to trade or just flat out sell??????
