I'm using a Canon HF M31 to shoot mostly meetings in conference rooms with twenty or so people. I use a Sennheiser MKE 400 condenser mic, which works well, but now want to add a second mic, probably wireless.

What's a good mixer / connector set up for this?

The Beachtek DXA 2T looks like it would help but the mic inputs are XLR (balanced). Does it make any sense to adapt the mini plug on my Sennheiser to XLR to plug it into the Beachtek? Likewise with whatever new mic I acquire?

Forget the Beachtek, should I just get a mixer instead that can accommodate whatever plugs I have on my mics?

    Thanks for any advice.

just a guess but that cam doesn't have manual audio control? if not the proper mic input mixer would be one with vu meters.

The Beachtek DXA-2T should be sufficient for the Canon HF-M31.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Can I use an adapter, female mini to male XLR, to plug my Sennheiser shotgun into the Beachtek unit? Or would that mess with the balanced signal?

I don't think the Beachtek dxa-2t has a mini mic input, does it?

  5. Or if you prefer to use your microphone without an impedance adapter and your second mic also has unbalanced output (miniplug) you could use something like this:
