  1. Yes I have posted about advice on this before, but i feel i now have narrowed down the problem and hence a new post (also the previous one may not get noticed if i had bumped it with this thread)

I have purchased this device to view and schedule record tv programs from my STB (set top box) which is connected to my laptop via the USB stick TV capture device using composite AV cable.

Now you might well ask why do I not use the software that came bundled with the device - yes, i did locate and download the drivers and software for my device (i did not have the original drivers and application software with me) but to my great amazement there is NO PROVISION TO SCHEDULE RECORD FROM COMPOSITE INPUT (only TV and Cable inputs are available). The software that was provided with the usb stick was Honestech PVR 2.5

I have trialled some third party software like WinDVR and even Honestech 2.0 (which have schedulers) but only the video plays and never the audio. I have tried all possibilities and have tweaked all combinations of audio but to no avail. One thing i have noticed is that there is a setting in Honestech 2.5 (provided software without scheduler) which is not in Honestech 2.0 that permits listening and recording the audio track and that is a check on the setting INTERNAL STREAMING AUDIO FUNCTION. In fact Honestech 2.0 clearly states that internal streaming audio function is not supported

Are there TV capture cum recording softwares WITH SCHEDULER function that will support audio from my usb 2.0 stick by supporting internal streaming audio function?
Can i force this function by tweaking some settings in windows 7?

I did find the names of two more PVR/DVRs viz. mainconcept PVR and Power VCR II 3.0 but could not trial them as they seem to be discontinued products and may anyways not be compatible with a Win 7 OS

I am now plying with the possibility of using a composite to coaxial adapter/converter but i fear that the quality of the recording will deteriorate immensely even if i do find such a converter

Any chance of channeling the audio of the composite connection into another onboard audio line in (like line in or microphone) or is this just wishful thinking or result in a noticable AV sync issue?

Any solutions, hints, workarounds or tweaks that i can try?

Any software free or paid that can solve my problem?

Here in Mumbai, India analog cable input is being discontinued as from 1st July 2012 and hence my input connection has to be like what is described above

If it is any help, my device is the one seen here http://www.enter-peripherals.com/tvtuner_stick.html

I don't know anything about that particular device, but some capture devices allow you to assign a channel number to the composite and s-video inputs. For example, you could assign channel 1 to the composite input, then in the scheduler you record channel 1.

You have at least three threads related to to trying to get your cheap analog only tuner to work, and none has yielded the results you were hoping for:

I think it is safe to say this is a lost cause. Time to look for something else that will work with the PVR software you want to use. Surely there must a better USB TV tuner with analog capture ability that you can find locally.
