Ok, guys, I've searched the forum and I can't find this exact problem. I've been trying to convert some mpg files to divx (it's a distribution fix). I set them up in vdub using the Microsoft mpeg4 codec for video, and mp3 for audio, and then full process. The file size comes out right, but I can't seem to get any player to play them right. Both versions of windows media, among others I found here...all play the video, but the audio starts to play for about a second, then stops. I know the audio is there, because I tried converting them back from avi to mpeg using tmp, and all is well.

    Anyone? Bueller?

whats going on is that you maynot be using the right codecs or Vdub is screwed. Radium sucks it has bad sync and stuff on my machine.

    Solution
If you wanted to fix these files encode the mp3 audio with lame enc, and the video with vdub. Run a little app called wave stripe (or somthing) to add a wav header to your mp3 file. Load vdub, load the avi video and then choose audio-->wav audio load your 'wav' mp3 file and set both to direct stream copy, save it, then bingo a nice working video file.

  3. if you use the divx codec with divx audio you shouldn't have any trouble. I usually use flaskmpg to make my divx.

Well, I guess I should move this to software playing...I had someone else download part of the file and they said it played fine for them.

    D'oh.

FYI...I went to the Project Mayo site and downloaded the divx.4.0 beta full install, and all is well! All avi's are playing beautifully, with the Playa. Thanks for the heads up!
