  1. Hi!
    i'm new here.
I just got a 5 minutes DVD Video and i need some help with converting it to AVI.
i tried a few things, like AutoGK (get stuck everytime), and demuxing the V/A streams so i can convert it with VirtualDub (can't handle MPEG) but without any luck.
i also tried to look at the Tools section for useful tool, but i got lost there and i hope you guys can help me here.
    what tool should i use?
i prefer it would be a freeware.

    thanks in advance!

  2. What's the problem when using AutoGK? Post the log if you don't know. Ordinarily you'd just open the VOB and let AutoGK take it from there, perhaps setting a width if you have a preference (like 640, for example).

  3. Hi manono, thanks for the help.

where can i extract a log?
i don't think it even gets to the log part. i choose my VOB file, click "Add Job" and then "Start", the Start button grey out, but other than that nothing happens.

  4. After hitting 'Add Job' the 'Start' button becomes available, which is what you said. Then you hit it and nothing happened and it became greyed out?

In the folder you've chosen to save the video should be the *video_name*_agc.log, which can be opened in Notepad. If it doesn't give you any useful information about why it stopped, the usual procedure for fixing inexplicable errors is to remove AutoGK and reinstall it again. You allowed it to install AviSynth, didn't you? And the other programs it needs to do its work? And initially you installed the full package and not just the update?

a better description of the source might help. is it really in dvd format? i.e. in a video_ts folder with ifos, bups, and vobs?

now that i think about it, i might have skipped a few steps during the installation process. i'll try to reinstall.

this is how the video_ts folder looks like:

i also have it in m2v/mpa files (demuxed it with PgcDemux), and in MPG file (muxed it with ImagoMPG-Muxer).
