    hi there, hope you can help, i use cucusoft avi to dvd pro and convertxtodvd to convert my avi files to a dvd format these's programmes work prefectly well except the picture is sometimes very very dark when played on my tv.the files are perfectly clear when played on my pc, is there anyway i can convert to dvd and not loose so much of the quality of the original file.....cheers in advance nicko

    Any conversion, especially using simple tools, will result in, at the very least, all the flaws in the original source files being magnified. There is little you can do about it other than to get better quality source material.

    I don't use cucusoft, however ConvertXtoDVD does not make the clips darker, so I would suggest to you that the issue is with the settings of your TV.

    Use AviSynth with ColorMatrix filter before MPEG encoding. The difference in color information stored in compressed and uncompressed (as expected by encoder) avi's particularly results in visual difference in brightness/contrast.
