  1. If I have the VCD directory layout on my hard disc (copied from a VCD), can I just burn as "data CD" from that and have it work as a VCD, or does the burner SW have to do something "special" to make it a VCD.

  2. I'm pretty sure you can't burn it as just a data CD and watch it on your standalone player. You need to burn it as VCD because I think Nero or whatever programs adds additional "stuff" in order for your player to read it. The only reason I can think of to burn a movie as a data CD is for watching it on a Dreamcast, but even then you need to add files so that it can play.

  3. no, data cds aren't Mode 2, they have error correction built in whereas vcds and audio cds don't.
