  1. How do you edit VOB files from DVDShrink (Used DVDShrink Backup DVD) to mute same audio portions (no cutting video) and then burn the DVD Shrink hard drive files to DVD? I would like to keep the original DVD menus and options.

I opened the large VOB file successfully into Windows Live Movie maker and edited the movie audio but it wants to create one large Windows Media file when I am done and it does not have the same menus.

If the answer is: Get a VOB editor - please recommend the best open source VOB editor that can edit and then save back to a compatible VOB file(s). Thanks!

good luck. it's not as easy as you think. the vobs have video, audio(maybe more than one stream), subtitles and other info in them. any significant changes and it won't work when put back with the menus.

if it were movie only and no menus then you might be able to handle it.

  3. The DVD is P90X. There are 3 options (streams?) to play audio: mute mode, prompts mode (sound at certain points) and normal mode. I would like to preserve everything really, except maybe some junk advertisements, but just mute a few seconds here and there during the workout so my young children do not have to hear 'adult' words when they decide to walk in on me.

If that is difficult, please tell me the easiest program that will do this under $50.00 (unless I'm dreaming) or preferably free and open source. Thanks!

here's a guide to most of it. after de-muxing you will have to use an audio editing program to make the changes to the audio stream. then continue with the re-mux.
