I am in the middle of creating 10 DVD-R DL of Gilligan's Island all 3 seasons. I would like to find a set of programs that will author, convert avi to mpg or mpeg-2, makes sure that the voices match the spoken word ,creates great menus and burn to dvd-R DL. Can you point me in the direction of these programs? Preferably one for each step. Thank you John

    Errrr!!!!!

    Lol!!

After all this time and effort you would have saved $$ just buying the damn set!!!

Instead of spending 9 months trying to convert someone else's crappy conversions to lower quality Xvids....
Oh wait... that was covered in your first thread....

Unless 9 months of your time, or how many ever hours, is worthless to you....

And once a dvd is ripped and converted to a smaller format/file, the original quality is gone and you will never get back the same quality of the original dvd.

I am wondering how even your original thread was not closed/locked seeing as you want to convert a ripped & converted dvd set that can be bought.

Yup, you're flogging that horse something awful. You got good advice in that old thread.

I'm not interested in debating the morality of warez. But having seen a number of them I'll tell you a few things.

A lot of those rips are crap. People have codecs installed that should not be on a Windows system. They use crappy software that doesn't have good settings. Or they don't know how to use the settings. Or they can't be bothered to tinker and just want it fast.

You can't go by file size. I've seen and made 700 Mb rips of a 2 hr movie that were actually quite good. I've seen files 2 & 3 times that size that were awful.

In other words, if you're having sync problems, and something like avstodvd can't deal with it, the sync problems are in the rip itself. Avstodvd will deal with files made with weird codecs better than anything else. But there's a limit to what you can do with a bad source.

Of course, I'm assuming after all this time you actually know what settings to try with avstodvd. If you don't, I'm not interested in discussing it.

And if the dumb kids who make most of those rips are as stupid as those kids who give those crap rips 10 out of 10 in user feedback sections, there are a lot of bad rips out there.
