  1. I'm trying to get a HIGH QUALITY screenshot off a movie but the best rated program I could find was Snagit 8.0 and I could not get it to save right. In addition though, I was getting a lot of blurry hands, etc...when I was trying to pause it. Is there a EASY freeware program out there that will snap frames if you just let a portion of the movie play for 1 minute or so. It could be .jpeg, bitmap, etc...

    Thoughts?

Most players allow you to capture screens. VLC comes to mind, among others.

It's actually up to you to get the most desirable screen. Try scanning frame-by frame near the scene that you want. You may not get "Hollywood style', since most action shots you see on the 'net aren't from the actual movie, but from publicity stills.

And forget HIGH QUALITY, dvd is for example max 720x576 and that is far from high quality.

I use Media Player Classic(File->Save Image) or Image Grabber II to make screenshots. You can also use Virtualdubmod,Virtualdub-mpeg2 to save a video to an image sequence.
