OK, I'm trying to make YouTube Poops. You know what those are? Videos are spliced and messed up, run in reverse, get different audio, etc. It's something like this:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=vUaZrLJYyic

Now, most of these artists use Windows Movie Maker, but I'm out of luck there, since I'm on a Mac. I have iMovie HD, After Effects, and Final Cut Express... but none of them can do everything I want!

-After Effects lets me splice and add my own features, but I can't hear the audio while I'm running through it, meaning I have to guess at where to cut. Also, it's really slow and sucks up lots of space. Also, the pitch can't be altered on videos where speed is changed.

-iMovie has some decent stuff, but the pitch can't be altered either. Also, everything that's rendered in it comes out a lot brighter than it was when it went in.

-Final Cut Express does almost everything I want, but the scale is off. I can't change the scale of the sequences, and when I do, the video quality takes a nosedive.

So, what should I do? Does anyone have some insight on how I can juggle these three or fix the problems, or should I just try something else?

Well, then... It sounds like it is time that you finally come in out of the wilderness and upgrade to a real computer operating system. Even with all of its flaws, Windows is way superior to any Mac.

Yeah right and VHS owners thought they had something superior going over Beta but that didn't make it so.

This can be done in any NLE.

Final Cut Pro or Premiere CS3 on OS X.
Premiere CS3, Vegas, Avid and some others in Windows.

Takes some patience, time and skill. Learning curve is medium to steep. Plug-ins may be required, and will often cost $$$.

    And good luck.

Hmm, not much help in here is there?

I just joined these forums and already there seems to be a lot of bickering about OS'es in the Mac section. Surely we shouldn't be doing this here guys! We're all fans of our own OS'es and we have to learn to respect others views . . . . this post is about a guy who needs some help . . . can we guide him?
