Hey there!

This here Swede has always been interested in ripping. I have done a few personal DVD rips in AutoGK of DVD's I've purchased, and I've tried a bunch of other applications too. I am actually taking a course in video compression at my college/university ("högskola" in Swedish) in a few weeks. Now I'm getting off track...

The problem I'm having is with Transport Stream (.ts) files. I record them using some kind of Hauppauge USB card and the Hauppauge software WinTV v7. All files so far have been recorded from the same channel, SVT. To explain what I am doing in full:
  1. Record to .ts with WinTV v7.
  2. "Correct" .ts file using MPEG2Repair. I choose the second audio there (AC3) and get rid of the other (MPEG audio, I think).
  3. Cut out the beginning and end with HDTVtoMPEG2. This SVT channel does not have commercials during films/shows.
  4. Convert to a 700 MB (usually) XviD in AutoGK.
I just want to say that I would like to keep using AutoGK. I like the application even though it's a bit old. I know about H264/x264, but those two are not supported by my DVD player for example.

OK, so the first movie I recorded (we'll call it file A) suffer from serious audio sync problems (problem 1) if I don't force the audio to be MP3 CBR. The auto audio will not work since it does VBR. Why could this be?

The second movie, file B, didn't have any problem at all. I could encode the audio in AutoGK with AC3, VBR and CBR and it still worked like a charm. For a 700 MB movie I understand that VBR would be the best option, so I would like to encode file A using that too?

The third movie (file C) works with 1 CD and VBR, but I thought I would try and make a 2 CD. The auto option should then choose AC3, but when I try to check the output file there is no audio at all (problem 2). Although, both VLC and GSpot tells me there is AC3 audio in the file, and GSpot can even render it.

Can someone help me out a bit with what I am doing wrong? I'm running Windows 7 x64 and have AutoGK 2.55 and AC3Filter 1.63b installed. Do I need to link the newly installed AC3Filter in AutoGK somehow?
