I downloaded Subtitle workshop in order to make subtitles for a movie which I could not find any subtitles for (trying different websites like subscene, etc.).
I can't figure out how to actually make new English subtitles for this movie.
First, I click on "new subtitle", then I click on "Insert subtitle". Then, I assume that I click on movie-open. Then this allows me to import the movie file to subtitle workshop. After this, I click "save as". I then see a box with, I guess, a list of different subtitles to choose from. I choose subrip (srt). This is where I do not know what to do.
    Please help.

You could try find subs in another language, google translate it, check/rewrite it , done.

No, I cannot find the subtitles for this movie in ANY language. Hence, the reason I need to make my own. Do I need to basically let the whole movie play out in the software after adding the subtitles in order to actually get the subtitles for this movie?

Type out ALL the words to the movie manually?? That is CRAZY. If I really have to do that then this software is USELESS.

You WONT find any subtitle editor that does voice recognition to text.

Even youtube/google can't do it any good.

  9. SW4 - new subtitles, load the movie

after that do not click stop, click only into movie area, it will pause/play movie or use ctrl+space bar, to go back and forth

use Insert key on keyboard to add subtitles (window has to be active), to select time for subtitle to start click that left half arrow button (7th from right), to choose time for end of subtitle click on that half right arrow),it always enters time where your slider for the movie is located

  10. Use Subtitle Edit.... You can use the google translate function to help you with the basic translate,
You then have to manually edit any typos or mistranslates... then save as another subtitllle file
