I have been given a DVD by a client that I need to copy and edit. (TDK DVD-R, NOT copyright protected or containing copyright video or files!).

The Disc Plays fine on My Stand alone DVD player and on PS3 however when inserted into any of my 5 DVD drives and 4 PC,s (XP) the disc shows as blank and proporties reveal that the disc is in the "RAW file format".
I have tried various programmes (Raw Copy, Isobuster,Avs) but none of them can see any files on the disk.

From my exhaustive search online it seems that the disc may have been recorded using a stadalone unit and maybe not finalised?
There is also lots of info / software for changing drives from "RAW" to Ntfs or fat but I can find no answer to the problem of how to get the files a) to be recognised by something!! and b) to be copiied/converted or whatever so I can import them to my editing software.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Go back to ISOBuster (get the paid/pro version if you have to), and check for "missing file systems". Create an IBP/IBQ discimage - possibly using multiple drives/PCs. Something will turn up.

If the disc were really bad off, you wouldn't be able to view on settops either...

BTW, there is no such thing as a "raw" filesystem format. "Raw" is either: Empty/Blank, Corrupt (but readable), Unreadable, or an unrecognized Filesystem.

Grammar Nazi mode on - Putting a ? at the end of a sentence in English does not magically turn it into a question. Grammar Nazi mode off.

Your supposition is unlikely. Unfinalized discs almost never play in anything but the DVD recorder used to make them. The fact that it plays on your PS3 and a DVD player suggests that it's finalized.

It could possibly have been burned on a PC in UDF mode greater than 2.01. XP does not contain the drivers to read UDF 2.50 discs, for example. Install the free ImgBurn and put the disc in a PC and let it tell you what's on the disc. If you've got UDF 2.50 video then the guy who made this is a real idiot. You'll have to install UDFreader to get at the data.

It does however indicate that the author may not be sure about the validity of the the statement being made and is inviting the reader to add his or her knowlage to validate the statement in question.
I believe this is perfectly acceptable in the English Language and is used widely?
I'm also sure that anyone reading the text would understand completely the point of the "?" at the end of the sentece, therefore allowing the author to make a point in one sentence rather than endlessly having to explain that although this is what he has been led to believe it may not be so...etc etc etc.
(Sorry, is it O.K. to use etc 3 times? And should I have punctuated each letter? However will anyone understand me??)

Anyway thank you for the information. I will try your suggestions.

Update: UDFreader installed along with ImgBurn and still no files found?
"Disk is Empty" or "Unknown" for all combinations in ImgBurn apart from in VERIFY mode where it states "Disk Not Empty" but
still cant find a way to see or copy files.

** Disk was created some time ago by a third party who I have no contact with so he may well have been an idiot? (Question mark added to denote the fact that, as I do not know this person, he may or may not be an idiot. Just to make things clear to those of you with a degree in English who are compelled to police the world with your grammatical truncheons!)
