TV screen turns pinks after attaching Blu-ray player

Hi everyone,

I have a 32" Sony Bravia HD flat screen TV that is less then a year old that has been working great. It's connected to a DISH Network HD satellite receiver with a HDMI cable.

Yesterday I bought a Vizio VBR122 Blu-Ray player, connected it with a new HDMI cable with no problem, watched a movie, then after switching back to view TV the screen was a fuzzy pink. For a few seconds the screen would go black then back to fuzzy pink, then the TV would be OK for a while. So I disconnected the HDMI cable and the TV worked fine.

What could be causing this and is there any solution that isn't going to cost me more money?

Sure, I've seen that on my HDTV.

Go into the video settings of your Blu-Ray player. You probably have a listing for YCbCr (HDMI). Your choices will be:

Auto
YCbCr (4:2:2)
YCbCr (4:4:4)
RGB (16-235)
RGB (0-255)

You're probably set on auto. Try another color setting to match your inputs. Your TV doesn't like going from one colorspace to another.

If the changing the colorspace doesn't help then also turn off 3D and anything else your TV doesn't support. Go to the manufacturers website and look for a firmware update, also go to Sony's website to see if there's an update for your TV. A bad cable or HDMI port can also cause this problem but you usually get a green screen.

Also try switching the hdmi cable to the port you know is working properly. If this is your first time using the second port it possibly might have problems you never knew if you only used the first one.

Hopefully that isn't the case as that would be a lot more serious problem but might as well eliminate all possibilities.
