  1. First I have to make a wee off topic issue.

you guys are AMAZING. I come here intermittantly over the years problem with this problem with that and you guys almost always find me a solution or help me find a solution and even when you can't you bust your butts trying.

I don't know how often you hear it but I want you to hear (read) it from me. Thanks. you guys rock

I scored a couple new camcorders CHEAP. nice little units. Samsung HMX-U20's $50 for one $40 for the other (both have small issues but don't effect operation Score

I wanted to play with 1080p video. At THIS level of tech (price point) its not there yet. still too much cmos "scan" at 1080p but the 720p60 mode is VERY clean. almost NO wiggles. very impressive.

SO I am trying to play these videos. 720p30 plays fine but 720p60 and 1080p30 won't play right. (video plays too slow so the sound gets ahead of the video)

Now mind you I don't have a speed demon computer but I have a GeeForce 1gb 9800GT PCIE 6gb ram and its is a quad core machine.

it SHOULD be able to play back this video properly and smoothly right?

assuming it should it must be a Codec issue. how do I begin to diagnose this? remove bad codecs install correct codecs (which ones ??)

I think they are quicktime enclosures assuming H.264 video content. (will check later but I bet thats correct)

anything 720p30 plays fine but 720p60 and 1080p30 will not play synced properly etc..

    any suggestions?

  2. Yes, that computer and graphics card should be able to play 720p60 and 1080p30 fine. Be sure you are using a multithreaded h.264 decoder. Also try using a player that supports DXVA (hardware h.264 decoding). There are mulithreaded builds of ffdshow. MPCHC has a built in multithreaded h.264 software decoder, and and DXVA decoder. Both of those should work.

Don't use any Quicktime software. It all sucks.

  3. If I install the FFDSHOW multithread build will that let KM Player work?

it said I needed direct x (did not even realize I had not installed that) installed it ffdshow and media hc

media hc plays the videos fine it seems (need to take a better video during the day) but it looks like it does fine.

anyway to get kmplayer to deal with the video better? it still pooches them not a huge deal but would be nice.

  4. You might have to disable KMPlayers internal h.264 decoder to get it to use ffdshowmt. Options -> Preferences -> Filter Control -> Internal Video Decoder.

Try this for DXVA output from KMPlayer:

  5. Hmm I found that setting on my own but I only have 2 options. Internal and "system default"

Under you option Its a series of "check boxes" I assume I "uncheck" h264 ??

I am going through that linked thread now. I unchecked h264 but its still out of sync

Media HC plays it perfectly (found a day time video with zoom so I can hear the zoom motor drive. Perfect.

the only reasons I like kmplayer is its very nice for playing a group of video and has nice keyboard commands and skip ahead back commands.

but I can deal with using media hc to play these videos

  6. Yes, uncheck h.264. Restart the player and see if playback improves. Does the ffdshow icon appear in the tray area?

  7. its all good now. apparently I just needed to restart windows to enact one of the changes I made (direct x ffdshow or the uncheck ??) either way once windows was back up it was working perfectly again.

I had never installed directx since I simply assumed windows 7 came with it not sure if that made the difference but thank you very much.

Not too fond of 7 I prefer XP but I figure I need to keep up to date somewhat and run it on at least one machine

again thanks so much for helping me fix this.

and yes a new icon appears in the tray now (too small to read I assume its ffdshow. did not do that before so I guess it needed a reboot to finish its installation.
