Does anyone know how to go about converting a 1080p h264 with mkv container source file into a 720p?? I want to do this because as with most people my comp can't handle the 1080p playback, eventhough I've tried alot of methods.

what methods? and what tools? and what problems are you getting?

h264 video is tricky to convert. I would try a mencoder, ffmpeg frontend like alltoavi, super, etc.

try super it was the only way i was able to convert a 920*528 mkv file

i coverted to 720*480 16:9 for my DVD player

I used super to create an mpeg2 file at 6000 bitrate

then used CCE and gfd to complete the job

Have you had any luck with this? I have the same problem and was looking for a little advice. I have some 1080P x264 mkv's and want to resize the video to 720p.
