  1. Bought this nice and cheap 27" CRT for my retro gaming needs. It works great but I just wish I could access the service menu in order to re-size the screen a bit.

So, does anyone have the service code for an Electrohome 27E510 CRT

    Thanks

i would look for adjustment pots in the back, deep in tiny holes that require a special tool.

This site is a good start http://www.repairfaq.org/ . Depending on the age of the set you may not have adjustment pots or they might be inside the case.
    Maybe try this http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=123394107729734&topic=27

I'm aware this is a sweeping generalisation but as a rule a service code is useless without a purpose-made service remote and service manual.

That's it, that Facebook page has the code alright. 6, 4, 8, 3 (on the menu screen anyway)

Seems that you need to do it a few times and then play around with the numbers. That being said, I found something that kind of sucks. It would seem that adjusting the screen for one system breaks another one. There's got to be some common ground somewhere.

Oh you mean that for different signals the television behaves differently. Yes this is a problem with malformed video signals. Each system may have slightly different signals. You normally calibrate the television to a known good signal. For example a signal generator. Like this one http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/96768-REG/Compuvideo_PG3PAL_PG_3P_PocketGen_3_PAL.html
Back in the days of analog CRT televisions the generators simply output patterns over composite.

You could try contacting one of the members here with more experience with analog video. You could also try avsforum they have a CRT forum.

Bah, decided that it's no big deal to have half an inch of black boarder around most of my retro games, after all, it's a 27" TV, still got a lot of picture left in there. At lease that way, the ones that do stretch out more will have all the room they need.

    Thanks for your help mate

Figured that it would not be worth the effort at this point. You're welcome.
