  1. Hello all. Thanks to help from others, I am now loving my Serviio based DLNA setup at home. We are definitely going discless.
Now I want to try and do the same with Blu-ray. I own several hundred DVDs. Here is what I do with DVDs.
-Using AnyDVD and CloneDVD, I create a perfect quality disc copy minus menus, previews, extras, etc. I then combine all the VOB files from the new disc into a single VOB using VOBMerge. The single VOB file is stored on my Serviio based media server, and the disc copy is used for travel, kids handheld players, etc. Space is not an issue. This is working perfectly. The playback device/DLNA client on each of my TVs is a samsung bd-c or d 6500 Blu-ray player.
-I want to do basically the same thing with Blu-ray discs. I'll probably make the copied disc in this case a dual layer DVD to make it more portable using BD Rebuilder. Where I'm struggling, is how to make the lossless copy to my media server for home playback. I've read bits and pieces on this subject, but I cannot find anything that seems to be exactly what I am looking for. I would want to strip out the junk (similar to what I do above with DVDs), but I want the copy on my PC to be perfect quality. I would prefer not to re-encode if possible. I'm really hoping there is a process out there similar to what I'm doing with DVDs. I'll have to buy a little bit of hardware (Blu-ray player for my PC at least), so I want to make sure I have a chance at doing what I am trying to do.
    Thanks for the help!
    -Matthew

  2. Issue solved. I bit the bullet and went ahead and bought the PC blu ray drive to try it out. It was very easy. There is a single m2ts file that is the entire movie beginning to end with no extra fluff. Very cool.
