  1. I have a sony bootable DVD. When i insert it in my older PC having a LiteOn dvd drive it boots up without a problem but when i pop it into my NEWER PC having a samsung drive it does not boot up at all. What could be some of the issues here assuming of course that both my PCs are set in the bios to CD/DVD as my first boot priority

A sony bootable DVD? Is this a disc for a Sony brand computer repair/restore set or do you mean it's a DVDR that you made that just happens to be made by Sony?

  4. Describe more completely.

Bootable HOW? Windows, linux, install disk, made from WHAT?

New PC? Has it ever booted? Is hard drive formatted and bootable, or WHAT?

By what evidence EXACTLY are you determining that it will NOT boot?

Have you disconnected all HDs and attempted to boot with ONLY the optical drive connected?

Likely the windows settings for the Samsung do not automatically open the disc.

Don't ask me how to, I always disable that crap to prevent getting a virus.

    Windows ain't loaded yet.

BIOS not set properly, or a hard drive with some sort of problem is taking a long time to recognize by the system. In this case, there is no real issue, just that the user is not waiting long enough.

  8. Last time I did one of these, it went four pages before the OP figured out he had a disk in his floppy drive, and had not disconnected all the drive cables as he had been told to do.

This guy probably put the disk in upside down or something.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother.
