    Hi Folks

I used my panasonic DVD recorder for my kids 10 seconds of fame on TV, and sure enough, out of the 4 VOB files created, the only one I need can't be loaded correctly/modified. I wanted to put it over to RAW AVI like all my other home Hi8 Converted movies, but it says it can't be recognized. I tried renaming to MPG and at least I can open with media player now. Any idea how I can fix/adjust the properties so it's recognized?

Can you play it with vlc?

    Try avidemux.

No, VLC can't play it. AVIDEMUX said it looks like an MPG would you like to index it, and I do, then produces "cant determine aspect ratio" error. After, it becomes viewable within the program, but only the top left corner is viewable (you can see that corner of the broadcasters head and background). VLC won't play it after, either.

  4. Apparently the file is corrupt. I would suggest trying some of the other MPEG tools like Mpg2Cut2. See if any of them can handle the file.

That was magical. Mpg2cut2 Jumped to a better part with header information and all good. Just extracted out the few minutes I needed and saved the clip. Thank you both for your super quick and helpful tips!!
