Hi Guys,
I've tried searching around for an answer but can't seem to find one, hoping someone can help me out.
I'm trying to crop footage taken from a DVD to remove the letterbox, and encode it with Cedocida so that I can edit it in Adobe Premiere CS3. However, when I go to save as AVI in VirtualDubMod, I get the following error:
"Output compressor error: The source image format is not acceptable. (error code -2)"
Guessing this is because I've changed the size of the video with cropping, but for the life of me, I can't work out what size it should be for the Cedocida codec to work with it.
Here are my settings:
VOB file taken from DVD using DVDDecrypter. Info on the ripped file from GSpot:
720x576
Aspect ratio: SAR 1.250, PAR 1.422, DAR 1.778
VirtualDubMod
cropping (using null resize):
left - 2 pixels
right - 2 pixels
top - 74 pxels
bottom - 66 pixels
so now, size is basically 716x436
I'd rather keep the same aspect ratio for the source and the converted file, then sort out the display with my premiere settings if possible. I can safely lose a few more pixels, or am happy to resize slightly.
If you need any more info, just ask
Thanks!

Cedocida is a DV codec and can only use DV dimensions. Probably 720 x 576 pixels for PAL. Nothing else will work. If you want to use a odd size, you need to use other than a DV codec. You might try the Lagarith or HuffyUV codec, if your program can use them. They will give you much larger file sizes.
Or you can resize back to 720 x 576, but the resizing may result in a quality loss. Lagarith and HuffyUV are lossless, so no quality loss. If your end format is going to be DVD, then you will need to resize anyway at some point.Last edited by redwudz; 9th Jul 2010 at 22:25.
