I am thinking of buying a Sony GVD Video walkman for analogue to digital conversion as it plays Video8 tapes and spits out DV. I have a question about the original source - a fairly crap Sony Video8 Handycam. At the moment I capture with a BT878 card and the result is average. Now as far as the camcorder goes, it only has composite out, not s-video. Is the quality of the footage going to be better quality while viewed on the GVD than I ever see through a composite cable, or does Sony scale down the internals of the camcorder so the shitty composite output is a fairly good indication of the shitty video. By bypassing the composite cable and the BT card will I see a decent improvement in quality. I realise this is a subjective question, but I would be interested in peoples views.
Cheers,
Bolix
