  1. i have almost 2 TB of various video files spread across four external drives and one internal drive. i'm worried that a hard drive failure is due to strike me at any time and i would lose files that i couldn't replace. what is the best - and cheapest - way to backup all these files?

  4. You can get 2 TB drives for as little as US$80 these days, both internal and external (USB). For example:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148579

    $79.99, free shipping

This is what I'm using for backup now: http://www.agestar.com/english/products/s2b3a.asp I have two 2TB Samsung hard drives set up as RAID 1. The RAID controller is in the drive box, a Silicon Image 5744. If one drive fails, you can hot swap a new drive in and be back up and running in a short time. I use the eSATA connection to my computer. The unit works very well and is quiet and compact. About $70US from: http://www.cooldrives.com/index.php/twodrsaiirac.html

Buy a 2TB external hard drive and copy all the files.
