  1. :x My VCD that I just created has a .dat file on the CD. It plays fine on the PC, but does not play on my DVD player. I checked the compatibility and it says it does support VCD's. I'm not sure if I am doing anything wrong. I also tried burning another VCD thinking that I did something wrong, and it burned fine, but there is nothing showing on the CD at all. Any suggestions. It would be nice if there were a place to go for step by step instructions on how to do certain things.

Thanks in advance for any help. Please feel free to email me. I am eager to get this going.

  2. to help i'd need more info. How did you convert to mpg, how did you burn it(what software did you use). did you use cdr or cdrw(rw often are more compatible). what's your dvd player might also help.

I used Nero Burning software and Encoder within, then I tried the TMPGE encoder, I also used CD-R. My DVD player is RCA.

  4. well not knowing what the exact model of your player is i looked a the brand's trends, RCA does seem to like cdrw better. that being said it might also accept some brands of cdrs.

  5. I just tried a CDRW and it told me that it was not compatible with the player......So RW's are out. I am trying VCDEasy right now, and for some reason, it does not like the CDR's that I am using. I am using Memorex Cd's. I don't know......I'm frustrated

  7. you might want to try burning a vcd with the sample vcd's in the what is vcd section, and maybe try a differnet brand of cdrs, i've had good results with gigastorage...
