    How to convert one mkv file from a dvd folder that I have ripped to my hardsdrive? What program to use?

    Have you used MakeMKV?
    Convert to what? Many all-in-one converters supports mkv like freemake video converter, xmedia recode, etc.
    Or convert to MKV? Then use HandBrake, Ripbot264, Staxrip.

  3. Baldrick I think you got it. Sounds like the poster wants an .mkv file from a VIDEO_TS folder. Only fly in the ointment may be dvd subtitles display depending on the player or set top box. I've used MakeMKV on VIDEO_TS folders for subtitle free dvds and the .mkv played fine on my WD set top box.
