out of curiousity, if I ripped a dvd with clonedvd2 and the compression stayed at 100%, i realise you dont need to re encode because the rip would fit onto a dvdr.. but what if you were to re encode that 100% rip through rebuilder.... would the original quality be improved or do nothing?

Rebuilder is an encoder and not a ripper. A ripper will avoid transcoding if no further compression is required. Rebuilder wasn't programmed with such niceties because it should only be used when encoding is required, and will therefore re-encode regardless. This will take time and reduce quality for no benefit. It would not improve the quality unless you took the time to create a custom avisynth script with specific restoration faculties configured.
