De-Interlacing and Switching Audio on MKV

Hi, I have a problem with my MKV. I recently got "The Rugrats Movie" from a HDTV recording. The quality is HD, but sadly, it's interlaced, and the english audio track is track 2. I would love to switch the audio tracks, find out what the other language is, and de-interlace it if possible. Is there any program that can do that? I would prefer not having to re-encode, but if that's the only way, I'll do it and keep the original. Snapshots are below. Thanks!

Was this recorded off the air, originally 1080i? It may have been damaged already, by resizing
interlaced material. A small clip showing the problem would be helpful.

If the file is good, just play it back using one of the media players that de-interlaces on the fly -
at least this way, no re-encoding necessary. Try MPCHC.

Your player should deinterlace on-the-fly. You can use MMG to remux the video and audio with the English track marked as the "default" track.

This was originally 1080i on TV, but recorded in 720. It's only deinterlacing certain frames, not all of them in VLC. What would be the best way to make a sample? I would also like to figure out what language track 1 is when I upload the sample.

Then it's probably screwed up and you can't deinterlace or IVTC anymore.

Ok, so it can't be deinterlaced. At least it's watchable. So, i I upload a sample, could someone help me with what language track 1 is? EDIT: Apparently, using deinterlace method "X" in VLC fixed the interlacing 99% of the time, so it's much better now.

You can use MMG to remux into short segments. Enable the file splitting option (Global tab) and set the size to 10M or some suitable upload size. It will create a bunch of 10 MB files so I recommend you output to an empty folder. Stop it after a few seconds. Then select one of the resulting MKV files that shows obvious problems and upload it.
